Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Dead at Age 93

ATLANTA (September 8, 2014) – – In a message sent to employees today, Chick-fil-A® announced that its founder and chairman emeritus, S. Truett Cathy, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday at the age of 93. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. Read full obituary.




In lieu of flowers, the Cathy family has asked that donations be made to the WinShape Foundation to further Truett’s legacy of developing and supporting young people. Truett Cathy’s life was largely driven by a sense of obligation to the community and its young people. His WinShape Foundation, founded in 1984, grew from his desire to "shape winners" by helping young people succeed in life through scholarships and other youth-support programs.
